Design Process - Gym/ Company research

I have recently decided that I want to try and design this package for a specific gym, this would allow me to base colour and package visuals on an existing companies branding - However i want to use quite a small private gym rather than a huge multi million pound cooperation as it will allow me to play around with their original branding maybe adjusting or creating a brand new logo so I can base the rest of the designs on that.

I have chosen an old gym I used to go to where i live in Ackworth, it is an individual private gym called 'Fit 4 Life' , the original branding and logo is not too impressive but they already have a colour theme of blue and red as you can see here on their website

As you can seen the logo is ok but i wouldn't saw it was ore-inspiring.

I want to try and improve the logo so it would suit the package that I am going to create.

Existing Gym Logo's

I found THIS WEBSITE which Highlight these points as the main when designing a Gym logo

'Gyms and fitness centers are progressively becoming more popular day by day, particularly among the weight and diet conscious people. Like any other business, the gym and health club industry is also competitive; therefore it has become essential for every gym or fitness center to standout from the competition.

A gym logo design is considered as one of the best ways to market your business. A gym logo can professionally denote your health and fitness related services to the audience while attracting them towards body building and workout activities. Gym logos are made up of various design elements, some of these are discussed below:

Images for a Gym Logo Design
The ultimate purpose of all gyms and health club centers is to provide strength, muscle building and fitness to individuals who want to keep their bodies physically fit and healthy. Therefore, the images for gym logos should appropriately fit the nature of your fitness business. Images of body building equipment, masculine body, treadmills and slim feminine shape will best suits gym logos.

Color Selection for Gym Logos
Colors also play a vital role in attracting people towards your business, by exhibiting a great psychological impact on their minds. Bright and energetic colors like red, green, yellow, blue and purple can provide a more appealing look to the entire logo design.

Typeface Choices for a Gym Logo
Font selection is another part of a gym logo design that will make it more effective for your health club. Choose bold and stylish typefaces for representing the name of your gym or the slogan text. This will make the logo understandable by the onlookers and also help to convey the message that you want to get across in a gym logo.'

Design process - 100 things product research

I have decided that I am going to make my 10 items into an all in one package that a new member of a gym would receive once joined.

Two of the 10 products will be a supplement shaker bottle and a water bottle which I will design some transfers for that will be placed on the bottle.

There are many different designs for these shaker bottles and various shapes, sizes and colours are out there. but I will want the design to fit the theme of the package, so I will need to look into what my colour scheme will be, i think I want to use quite a dark colour, so I was thinking of a navy blue as I think this is the colour that would best suit a give away gym package. However I must also consider this is a package mainly focusing on nutrition, therefore maybe a dark blue would not be the best colour to communicate the concept of this package.

I also need to find a supplier for a plain shaker bottle that has no existing brands on it, this is not turning out to be that easy, as the only place that seems to sell unbranded shaker bottles are the wholesale companies such as Tradekey,  that only work in large orders, I also found a manufactures website but again only dealt with in bulk orders and it's in China, Vonkka , I am not sure if I will be able to buy just one individual un branded bottle.

I think I will have an easier task finding an unbranded water bottle but I will also have difficulty matching the colour of the 2 products.

I may have to buy a branded shaker and see if I can remove the transfers, this will probably be an easier option, but first i must decide on the colour scheme so I can buy to match

Colour Schemes

There is no set trend in all of the brands I have looked at, however I still feel a blue or a green would best suit the style of the package.

I think the final decision will be when I design the leaflets, I will try various different colours to choose which ever suits the style better.
