Context of Practice - 3 Graphic designers I have recently been introduced to.

Introduced to Matt Lyon aka C86

Website - www.c8six.com
Email - Matt@c8six.com
Tel- 07799191196

He is an Illustrator from the UK living in London. After getting a degree in fine art - then teaching Graphic Design to 16 - 18 year olds.
Most of his work is initially sketched and then put into illustrator where he colours the m using vectors.
He is inspired by "retro folk art, children’s illustration, abstraction, and other artistic styles and ideas".

He has done work for clients such as;
  • Microsoft
  • AOL
  • AT&T
  • Nike
  • Red Bull
  • Urban Outfitters
  • Wired
  • Design By Humans
and many more

Obviously, due to the fact he is an illustrator - he is instantly able to have a unique style, the shapes he uses to make hisdesigns are interesting and entirely individual in every single drawing - he sort of has a cartoony aspect to most of his work, but I am not sure if that is die to his fantastic and vibrant use of colours or if he just has a caricature style when drawing - but at the same time he goes on to do what deems to be massively complex illustrations which appear to be totally symmetrical.

I was Introduced to a design studio called The Decoder Ring

After visiting these guys website I found quite a few designs that were based on patterns or shapes mixed with photography, they have some really nice designs - covering a very broad range of styles - when you look at their poster designs then you see some similarities in designs but still not as much as a lot of renowned designers.

I also got introduced to a 'design circus' called La Boca

Some very cool colourful designs found through this studio, it uses exciting typography to pull a lot of it's designs together as well as using lot's of bold colour in a very psychedelic fashion which I really like, again with the use of blocks of colour and contrasting colour they create some unique designs.
